Straight Talk's New Android Phone is Out Now - Click Here!

straight talk nokia 6790 phoneBefore we get to the news about the new price decreases of the Nokia E71 and 6790, I wanted to let you know about the new Android phone that just hit Straight Talk.  LG Optimus Black is the best phone ST has had yet and a lot of people are excited about it.  It has a great screen, a very nice camera, and can download apps from Android Marketplace, all while letting you play games, listen to music, and manage your email.  See it at StraightTalk.com.

It’s a super nice phone.  If the Optimus Black isn’t suited to your taste, you should have a look at the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, which was released earlier this month.  It’s another solid release that is surprisingly fast.  It downloads data fast, opens web pages really quick, and streams netflix and youtube videos really fast.  It’s because this phone is on the Verizon network–the first Straight Talk Android phone to be on this superior network.

The question we’re going to try to tackle here is whether or not you should consider buying one of the two new Straight Talk smart phones, the Nokia 6790 and the Nokia E71. These two phones have recently been made available with the Straight Talk unlimited plan for only $99 online at StraightTalk.com.

lg optimus black android phone straight talk

The unlimited plan costs $45 per month for limitless calls, messages, and Internet, which is probably why it’s the plan associated with these two phones. Both the Nokia 6790 and E71 are very good phones by comparison to other smart phones out there. Neither or them are super high end, but they are nice phones. In comparison to other prepaid phones, these two handsets blow a lot of them out of the water.

The best place to buy these phones is StraightTalk.com, the official website for the brand. You will find the best prices and the best availability of these phone models at the website. They can ship anywhere and it’s free.

Both of these phones cost only $99 for a brand new phone!  This is the cheapest I’ve seen these phones offered online yet.

Straight Talk Smart Phones

Many of the other Straight Talk phones do not have much more to offer than just calling, texting, and a little web browsing. This isn’t to say that they’re bad phones–they just don’t really go above and beyond. This tends to make sense, since they are all affordable phone options and are going to be used by people actively looking to save money. This is how prepaid has traditionally been–for the frugal who aren’t going to spend a lot on a hot new cell phone. Well, things are truly changing and now it’s not surprising to see people who would not have considered prepaid phones a year ago to be switching to a prepaid plan like the one offered by Straight Talk Wireless.

Nokia E71

Nokia E71 for Straight Talk resembles a Blackberry, at least in shape and style. It is more of a tab or slab-style phone, which means it is flat, has no moving parts, and has a full keypad on the bottom half of the body of the phone. It’s a nice style and shape of phone that makes sense for business and personal use. You can use the fully displayed keyboard to send text messages very easily and quickly and you can use it to browse the Internet with the full html browser.

Nokia 6790

Nokia 6790 is a 3G GSM slider phone that slides to reveal a full keyboard. The phone has 128 megabytes of internal storage, video recording, mp3 and mp4 player, voice memo, and runs Symbian OS, through which you can download various free applications that will enhance your phone’s functions. Definitely do some more research on this phone and think about it.

Cost

Both phones cost $99 and there is a monthly fee of $45 per month for the unlimited plan that allows you to text, talk, and browse as much as you heart desires. And now, with the 6790 or the E71, you will have a phone that enables you to get the most out of this comprehensive, affordable prepaid plan. Did I mention that since these are both prepaid phone plans, you don’t have to sign a contract!

straight talk nokia e71 phoneNew Android Phone LG Optimus Black

Straight Talk has added another Android handset to its list of phones.  It is not the LG Optimus 2X as many people had hoped (and as Straight Talk said it was going to release).  LG Optimus Black is a good phone with a good screen that gives you access to the Android Marketplace, a 5 megapixel camera and video recorder, and all of the goodies you associated with Android phones.  Read my review of this phone here or go straight to the source: Straight Talk.

If you want to see all of the current phones at Straight Talk, the best lace to go is the official site.  If you’re thinking of getting an Android phone, LG Optimus Black or Samsung Proclaim are your best bets.  Watch a video review of the Optimus Black and Samsung Proclaim below.

Straight Talk is a prepaid wireless phone provider that’s really blown up over the past couple of years since it first came onto the scene. Sold exclusively at Walmart in the beginning, Straight Talk benefited from the influential sales position of being on shelves in the most heavily trafficked store in the United States. But since then, the service has proven that it really does have the makings to compete against some of the bigger and better known phone brands out there.

New Straight Talk LG Android Phone

The latest phone release from this company is the LG Optimus Black (see picture above), an Android phone that packs a lot of goodness into a small package.  The Black is the best current Straight Talk 2012 release and it looks like it will remain the best ST phone for at least the year.  Get the LG Optimus Black Android phone at StraightTalk.com

New Phones from Straight Talk

And now that we have seen the release of the first Straight Talk Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Preceden (pictured above), it seems that this company has really come out swinging and is ready to play ball. The Android phone on prepaid plan phenomenon is one that makes me personally really happy, since I have been wanting to see better phones on prepaid plans for a long time now. And Straight Talk has in fact released its second Android phone right on the heels of the first one. The second phone is the LG Optimus Q, a phone that is different from the Precedent mainly because it has a pull out keypad in addition to a beautiful touch screen. One thing you need to know about both of these cool phones is that they only work with the unlimited prepaid plan from this company. You can’t opt into any lower plan, you have to use the $45 per month plan. But this plan is probably the one you want if you’re going to have an Android device that browses the web and downloads apps.

Straight Talk and the Competition: Do Your Homework

There are many other companies adding Android phones to prepaid plans (which again is something I think is great) like Virgin Mobile (Motorola Triumph might be the best Android prepaid phone in the world), MetroPCS (several of them, but not many I really like), and Boost Mobile.

There are some interesting free phone deals going on right now too, so you should have a look at the official website.  Some of the phones also come with free shipping or other special discounts and offers that come around every once in a while.

The newest Straight Talk phone to be released is the LG Optimus Black, a very nice Android phone (depicted to the right) that has a lot of people considering a switch to prepaid.  The phone has a great touch screen, a very nice camera that captures HD video, and a great email user interface.  The fact that LG Optimus Black runs on the Unlimited plan doesn’t hurt this phone’s popularity.  Read more about this phone at StraightTalk.com

Nokia E71 Price Decrease

The Nokia E71 is now available at the delightful price of $49.99 on the official website.  The phone is considerably marked down from its former price.  It runs on the unlimited plan so you get all you can use text messages, web browsing time, and of course, all you can use voice.

Unlimited Plan

The one thing that is certain is that Straight Talk is popular because of its $45 unlimited plan that offers everything unlimited and is one of the most affordable prepaid plans out there. However, even than, not everyone is made for just browsing the Internet, a lot of talking or heavy texting, so, not everyone is looking for the same features in the phone. That is why the best Straight Talk phones are not those that are the most expensive or the ones with the most features available, but the ones that are the best combination between the price and with what user needs. With that in mind, the best Straight Talk phones would be the Samsung r451c, the Samsung R355C and Nokia E71.

For someone who likes to text a lot and is not too much into web browsing, but still likes to have access to sites like Twitter, Facebook, Gmail and more, the Samsung r451c can be voted of one of the best Straight Talk phones. This phone is available for $99.99. For that money, an attractive stylish slider phone that provides easy texting will be yours. Besides full hidden QWERTY keyboard, perfectly placed buttons easy to press also help a lot to easy texting. Also, you will have a 1.3 megapixel camera that will help you capture important moments in you life in good enough way, MP3 player, Bluetooth and other common features that this type of phone has.

Samsung R355C Straight Talk Phone

The Straight Talk Samsung R355C is quite similar to the previous phone discussed here. Again, the phone is great for texting, thanks to a full QWERTY keyboard, and it’s perfect for those who needs only a basic Internet connection without the possibility of downloading (cannot download pictures off the internet). To be honest, what is attractive in this case is the look of the phone. The phone looks a bit like a Blackberry and that can be a decision point for some users. It is bigger than the previous model and it has a 2.2′ LCD screen. It also has a 1.3-megapixel camera, a very good mp3 player with up to 16gig memory expansions, as well as 64 MB internal memory.

The Nokia E71 Smart Phone

And certainly one of the best Straight Talk phones, if not the best, is the Nokia E71. This phone is a smart phone and is available for $199. In this phone, you get everything that the phrase “smart phone” stands for. It’s great for texting and great for web browsing. The unlimited plan for $45 gives this phone a lot of utility. If you enjoy browsing Internet, downloading a variety of applications, streaming videos, or if you want to be able to use free Internet wherever there is a wifi capability, this phone may be an option. If you want to make video calls with 3g speeds and AT&T and Verizon’s networks, then the BlackBerry-style Nokia E71 is the perfect choice for you. Take pictures with a 3.2-megapixel camera, listen to music with the MP3 player and just overall enjoy this prepaid cell phone.

The Straight Talk unlimited plan is one of the most talked about prepaid plans available today.  At $45 for unlimited talk, text, and web, you can’t go wrong with Straight Talk.  It is owned by Tracfone, which is one of the most popular prepaid companies in the country.

Straight Talk Phones No Contract Plans

lg optimus android cell phone onlineThe New Android on the Block: Optimus Black (not Prime)

Update:  Tracfone is one of the most well known and successful prepaid companies in the country, so when they unveiled a new brand called Straight Talk that would be sold at Walmart and online, I knew this was going to be an interesting endeavor.  Straight Talk, unlike Tracfone, has Android prepaid phones–three of them to be exact.  The latest one that was released not too long ago is called LG Optimus Black, from the very popular Optimus family of phones that you see on a lot of prepaid plans.

Optimus Black is the best phone you can get from Straight Talk Wireless right now.  It has a 5 megapixel camera that also records high quality video.  It also has a secondary small camera that is useful for video chatting.  Read more about the newest prepaid Android phone at StraightTalk.com

No Contract Prepaid Phones

Straight Talk is a prepaid cell phone provider, which means that you never have to sign a contract in order to use the service.  There are quite a few nice phones to choose from and since you pay every month as you use the service, you don’t have to subject yourself to any kind of commitment like you would with a contract phone plan.  Prepaid is really becoming popular as the months go by, since signing a contract for a phone can be quite expensive and essentially locks you to a certain company.  Straight Talk has two good prepaid plans for you to choose from.  One is a 1,000 minute per month plan and the other is the unlimited plan.  Right now there is a special offer for a free prepaid phone with your purchase of one month of service.straight talk prepaid phones

Straight Talk Deals Running Right Now

There is a free phone offer going on right now.  The Nokia E71 is only $49 brand new and the Nokia E5 smart phone is only $149.  Samsung Precedent, the first Android phone for Straight Talk is selling for $129.99 and the LG Optimus Black Android (the third ST android device) is now on sale at the official site.  Get your prepaid phone deal at StraightTalk.com

Update:  Well, in this article I wrote about how much I liked the Samsung t528g and how it was my favorite non-smartphone for Straight Talk.  I still stand by that statement, but I wanted to add that my new favorite smartphone from Straight Talk is LG Optimus Black, which is an Android phone that runs with the unlimited prepaid plan that made Straight Talk famous.  It’s a great phone with a gorgeous screen and two cameras.  Learn more about it here.

I am one of the many who have been sucked in by the whole smart phone prepaid phone movement. Can you call it a movement? I think you can because it seems to be a pretty strong trend with companies like Straight Talk, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, and Virgin all releasing prepaid smart phones. And these are the kinds of phones that people are asking and actively looking for.

In short, people want the affordability of prepaid, but the quality of high end phones. That being said, there are some very nice non-smart phones available on prepaid plans–the kind of phone that sits between your normal everyday prepaid phone and the really high end smart phones. Straight Talks Samsung t528g is one of these phones and it’s a really nice option (and an affordable one at only $99). The interesting thing about this phone is that whereas with the Nokia E71 and Nokia 6790 (the Straight Talk smartphones available now) can only be used with the Unlimited plan, the Samsung t528g can be used with either plan of your choice.

The Best Straight Talk Phones

Free Straight Talk Phones

On April 3, 2012, in straight talk, by Chris

free straight talk ringtonesStraight Talk has some of the best current holiday promotions this year.  You can currently get free Straight Talk phones with your purchase of the first month of talk time.  The free phones are typically lower end phones and this is the case here.  It’s not a bad thing because the phones are after all free.  The only thing is if you want a better phone like the new Optimus Black or Samsung Precedent, you won’t be getting one of them for free.  They cost some money, but they are well worth it because they’re android phones.

See all phones and deals at the official website.

When you purchase the first month of airtime (and remember there’s no commitment or contract) you will get the free phone.  You can get up to two free phones at a time with this promotion (click here to go to the site), so if you want to give an affordable prepaid phone as a gift to someone, you can do so and also keep one for yourself.  These deals only last until the end of this month (December 31, 2010), so have a look at these phones today.

straight talk holiday deal

You can get the Samsung R355C phone free today at StraightTalk.com. The Samsung R355c (which was added on to this promotion just a couple of days ago and which is pictured below) is a nice surprise because it’s a good phone with a full keypad on the front.  It sort of resembles a BlackBerry in shape and form.  It will definitely work well with one of Straight Talk’s prepaid plans.  The plans that you can choose from to get your free Straight Talk phone are the Unlimited plan ($45/month) and the 1,000 minutes plan ($30/month).  Both are good plans, but if you use a lot of talk time and want to have unlimited text messages and unlimited web browsing (not to mention free 411 calls), then go with the Unlimited plan.  You get a lot for what you pay.

If you’re looking for a phone that is quite a bit nicer than your average prepaid phone, then you should read this Nokia 6790 Straight Talk review.  Along with the Nokia E71, the Nokia 6790 is a new smart phone recently released by this company.  Read about three of the best Straight Talk phones.

straight talk samsungr355c phone

These deals last only until the end of this month, so if you want a free phone and free shipping, head over to Straight Talk’s website as soon as you can.  If you want a bit nicer of a phone than the lower end ones that you can get for free from Straight Talk, have a look at LG Optimus Black, the newest Android phone from Straight Talk.  It’s a very nice phone with the unlimited plan that really sets it apart from many of the other prepaid phones around.  Buy this phone at StraightTalk.com (or get a free one!).

straight talk nokia e5 profile pictureThe Samsung Finesse for Straight Talk is a smartphone that works on Straight Talk’s prepaid cell phone plans. There are not many prepaid smartphones out there, which makes the Samsung Finesse r810c a bit of an anomaly.

Straight Talk is currently giving away free phones on its website for a new promotion. The way it works is you pay for your first month of talk time and you get a free phone. The deal is available online only at StraightTalk.com.

There are two phone currently to choose from. I don’t know how long this deal is going to be around, so if you’re interested have a look at the link above. You can pick up a phone for yourself and one for a friend. It’s always nice to save some money on your phone bill, but in this instance you can even save money on your actual phone, which is even nicer. Have a look at the phones and see if you want to snatch one up while this deal is still going on.

Straight Talk recently released this phone for use on its two prepaid plans, which is a good thing because it is by far the best phone that works with this wireless provider. It is also a sign of things to come. I think we will start to see a lot more prepaid smartphones in the near future.

If you are looking to buy the Samsung Finesse, you want to visit the official Straight Talk website to see if it’s available in your area. To do this, go to the site then select the button in the navigation that says “Store.” A drop down menu will appear, and at that point you want to click “Phones”.

You will be guided to a screen that asks for your zip code so you can check availability of the phone where you live. Unfortunately, some of the phones aren’t available in certain locales.

There are two plans available for use on Straight Talk with the Samsung Finesse r810c. One is the $30 All You Need 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text plan, which is quite reasonably priced.

The second is the Unlimited Plan, which at $45, allows you to use unlimited talk time, unlimited text, unlimited web browsing, and unlimited 411 calling.

Both plans also run on the Verizon network, which means you get a solid network as well, fewer dropped calls, and better nationwide service than most prepaid providers.

At a price of just around $300, Straight Talk’s Samsung Finesse r810c might be a little out of reach for many people.

Frankly, a lot of people decide to purchase prepaid phones as a means to save a lot of money–not to plunk down a few hundred on a higher end phone. But for Straight Talk, the Finesse is somewhat of a cross-over phone in that it may appeal to some people who desire more functionality out of their cell phones.

At the time I am updating this, there are more smartphones available on prepaid plans than there were when I originally wrote this article. MetroPCS, you might be interested to know, seems to be phasing out the Finesse on its service.

It is no longer featured on the MetroPCS website. It will be interesting to see what new phones Straight Talk unveils. There should be another high end option coming soon. Check back here for details in the future.

Free Straight Talk Ringtones

On March 7, 2012, in straight talk, by Chris

free straight talk ringtonesI’ve seen online and heard from quite a few people that they are looking for free ringtones for Straight Talk phones.

One of the best current  deals is not for free ringtones but for a free cell phone (the LG 220C)–all you have to do is pay for your first month of service (which you have to do anyways) and you walk away with the phone. The other deal is for two deeply discounted phones that basically come with a free month of service with the price cut. They are the LG 420G and LG 620G.

If you don’t have your phone from this company yet, go to StraightTalk.com (the official website) to buy one and then come back here to learn about where to find free rings for your new prepaid phone.

This seems to be something that most people tend to look for after they get a new phone. If you have an mp3-enabled phone from Straight Talk, like the Samsung Finesse r810c, then you should have no problem uploading your mp3 files to make ringtones.

If you don’t know what Straight Talk is or are looking for an affordable prepaid phone, read more here. If you are just looking for tones, read on…

Ring Tone Maker

RingtoneMaker is the best software for making ringtones. It costs under $20 bucks and will let you make thousands of tones from any mp3 or youtube video (and since you can find any song on youtube, you will be able to easily create any tone you want). RingToneMaker is easy to use and will save you a ton of money, not to mention time. Spending the $20 to get a good piece of software that works every time is worthwhile to a lot of people.

Since you get 30 megabytes of data with the Straight Talk prepaid plans, you have some space to play with if you are trying to upload your songs to your phone (after you’ve turned them into ringtones).

Straight Talk Nokia E5In looking around for free Straight Talk ringtones, I noticed that a lot of people aren’t exactly thrilled with the ringtone options available for prepaid phones. Let’s be honest, with prepaid the main focus is saving money. It’s not always on the extra luxuries that make having a cell phone really fun–like hearing your music when you get a call.

What you need if you’re trying to create Straight Talk ringtones is software that will easily and cheaply let you do this.

Ring Tone Maker is one product that will let you very easily turn your own Mp3s into ringtones for your phone. I know that one drawback to this is the product doesn’t work on the most basic phones. If you’re interested in making your own mp3s and editing them to make them sound really good, then this might be a good option for you.

This software might be something you’re interested in, especially if you have an extensive music collection that you want to turn into tones for your phone.

Free ringtones for Straight Talk can be difficult to nail down since it sort of depends on what kind of phone you have. I am not the biggest tone guy since I generally use the “silent” function. That’s just what works for me. I might be in class or at work most of the time, so I prefer to keep my phone silent.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I am not an expert on ringtones, so this article is really more of a way to get the conversation started. I want you to leave information here in the comments about where you find your free Straight Talk ringtones so we can help everyone who needs this information.

I didn’t find any really good info out there, but I do know that the software I mentioned above is useful for people who want to create and edit ringtones. Any input is appreciated and will help people who have Straight Talk phones have a better experience with their phone.

I did some more research into this since I didn’t feel like I provided enough good information to justify having this article up. It seems that quite a few people get free ringtones from Ventones.com. I don’t know much about the site, but I have seen references to it several times today.

The site looks to be free (there are quite a few advertisements on the site, which seems to be how they make money), but you do have to sign up in order to use the software they have to make ringtones out of your own mp3s. I don’t know how the process works or how high-quality the service it, but it appears to be an option for Straight Talk ringtones.

There’s a certain nostalgia vibe to Motorla w418g that I actually really like for this phone.  If you are looking for an extra phone or a phone for a kid or just to keep in your car for emergencies, this could be a good phone for you to choose.  Let’s also remember the fact that it’s free right now.  All you have to do is purchase the talk time to use on it.
