Straight Talk's New Android Phone is Out Now - Click Here!

There are two brand new Android smartphones available on Straight Talk’s Unlimited plan, which is one of the best if not THE best in the business.  The first new phone is the LG Optimus Black Android, which comes with the unlimited plan and also has a gorgeous NOVA touch screen, a 5 megapixel camera, and has access to the Android marketplace so you can download any apps that you would like to.  You store them on your phone in the same way you do on an iPhone, on five home screens that you can toggle between.  Get the LG Optimus Black at StraightTalk.com

The second new Android phone available is the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, which is priced extremely affordably and also comes with the unlimited Straight Talk plan.  It’s the first Android for ST to work on the Verizon network, which means that there are now thousands more people who can take advantage of Straight Talk’s android deals by virtue of how large Verizon’s network is.  Learn more and get free shipping on this phone at the official site.

You have to love when prepaid phone companies let you use smart phones with their prepaid plans.  Okay, maybe I’m just a prepaid phone nerd, but since I bought my first prepaid cell phone six years ago, I’ve always hoped for better, higher quality phones to use with my prepaid accounts.  This is becoming a reality now, which puts a smile on my face.  You can now buy Straight Talk Wireless Android phones that run with the incredible Unlimited plan.  Straight Talk is the company I am highlighting here, but there are at least four other ones that have android-powered prepaid phones, like Virgin, Net10, and MetroPCS.  Check them all out and see for yourself.

Straight Talk Android Phones: Two Choices for Now

Right now, if you’re looking for a Straight Talk Android phone, you have two choices.  First of all, the reason you may want a Straight Talk prepaid phone is because its plans are two of the best in the business.  The Unlimited plan, at $45, is really not that steep in price when you consider that the phone has no contract and you get to use unlimited talk, text, email, and web browsing, not to mention voice-guided GPS. Your choices are the Samsung Galaxy Precedent (I really like the Galaxy line of phones and you will see many of them on prepaid providers lineups) or the second released Android Straight Talk phone, the LG Optimus Q. The Straight Talk Optimus Q is another phone you might see quite often with prepaid plans although they will be slightly different models on each provider.

See all details at the official Straight Talk website.

Why an Android Prepaid Phone?

For years, prepaid phones have been boring and decidedly low-end.  Now, you can harness the power of the robust Android phone operating system and have a high-powered, multifunctional phone at prepaid prices.  There is no contract to sign and you can switch phones any time you want with no repercussions.  Furthermore, the unlimited Straight Talk plan should give you everything you need in terms of browsing the web, talking on the phone, and sending text messages.  Since you have unlimited data, you will get a lot of use out of your phone.

straight talk samsung t401gUpdate:  Straight Talk has updated the phones it is offering for free right now.  It is no longer offering the t401g (the phone that this post was initially written about), but not to worry!  There are three new phones being offered for free with purchase of one month of service.  They are the LG 220c, LG 420G, and Motorola w418g flip phone.

See all of these new offers at StraightTalk.com and decide whether or not you want one of these phones.

They are lower end phones, but they make sense for a lot of people, specifically those who are not looking for an android phone or a smart phone.  These phones are rather basic, but that is not a bad thing, especially if you are planning to use the $30 Straight Talk plan rather than the unlimited one.

Back to the Original Post…

You gotta love free stuff.  I mean why wouldn’t you?  But it does seem that getting something for free is becoming harder and harder.  Straight Talk, however, has four free phones out right now.  One of them is the Samsung t401g!

Another phone that’s currently free is the Motorola W418G free Straight Talk phone.  You should also have a look at the deal on the Nokia 6790 by Straight Talk.  Right now it’s only $99 for a brand new phone.  For $49, you can get a reconditioned version of this phone.

All you have to do to get your free phone is head over to StraightTalk’s website, look at the phones that are marked “GET THIS PHONE FOR FREE” and select it.  You then will be taken to the shopping cart, where you will notice that you need to select a plan on which to use your phone.  Then you will notice that the phone is free.  Make sure to see if the phone is reconditioned or not–not that it really matters one way or the other.  But some people care about this.

Straight Talk has a couple of Android phones that might interest you but they are certainly not available for free–at least now.  I like both of these phones.  They are not the most amazing Android phones in the world, but they are  certainly an improvement over most prepaid phones out there.  More on these android phones here.

Best Straight Talk Phones

Update:  There are two pieces of news I wanted to share with you all since you’re reading this article about Straight Talk phones.  1) The Nokia 6790 is on sale for only $49, which is a considerable savings over its latest marked down price of $99.  Get yours at StraightTalk.com.  2) The LG Optimus Q, Straight Talk’s second Android phone, is now available on the official site.  It’s a great phone and gives you the best of both worlds–an Android phone with a prepaid plan.  Click the Straight Talk link above to learn more!

straight talk android lg qIf you’re a true value shopper, than you tend to look for the best deals possible (like me). Straight Talk currently has a deal that might just be up your alley. If you are willing to pay upfront for a year of service, and remember there is never a contract with Straight Talk since it is a prepaid phone company, then you can save $40 on your service plan. In other words, you will be paying $40 less than you would be if you paid the fee for service each and every month.  The more you “prepay” the more you will save over the year on your prepaid phone.

I think this could be an affordable option if you have already been with Straight Talk for a while and know that you will be sticking with them for a year at least. That sort of makes this a win-win situation. If you haven’t been with Straight Talk wireless and haven’t been using one of their phones, then this might not be the best thing for you because you don’t want to shell out a bunch of money and then realize you don’t need the service for some reason 4 months down the road. There probably is no money back policy.

Another option is to pay for 6 months or 3 months up front, which will save you some money. Obviously, each denomination is a different amount of savings, but all three time periods paid up front will save you money.

While you’re there at the official site, have a look at the three brand new prepaid smart phones that were just released.  The Nokia E5 probably is the star of the moment–you will probably see it on the homepage of the website.  Together with the Unlimited plan, the E5 is a formidable phone.  It looks great, it connects you directly to the Internet, and you can even use apps on it.  In addition, it has a great looking screen and a full keypad right on top of the phone like a BlackBerry.

Nokia E71 and Nokia 6790 are both good options too, but if I was buying a phone today, it would be the Nokia E5.  After all, it has a better camera, it’s slightly newer, and it’s the same price as these two phones.  Definitely have a look at these phones.

Straight Talk LG 900G Phone Review

On June 14, 2011, in straight talk, by Chris

lg 900g straight talk phone

Out of the many very good phones Straight Talk offers for their prepaid plans, the Straight Talk LG 900G is definitely one of the more advanced phones. Complete with some incredible features, options and battery life, this phone is one of Straight Talk’s best performing prepaid phones. The Straight Talk LG 900G phone features a non-slide out full QWERTY keyboard, meaning no more worrying about turning your phone all around and trying to slide it open for optimal, convenient text messaging. The Straight Talk LG 900G also has many other features you will enjoy as you use your unlimited monthly plan, texting and calling as much as you want.

See more details on this phone and current deals at StraightTalk.com

With the LG 900G’s lithium-ion battery, this phone can last for 16 days of standby time or six hours of talk time. This StraightTalk phone also features an alarm clock, Bluetooth capability, voice and video recorder, picture messaging and text messaging. This phone also features a color screen, graphics downloading, camera, caller ID, call waiting, calendar, mobile web, phone book with up to 1000 contacts, and also duals as an mp3 player. Available at a very good price and two great service plans, the LG 900G from Straight Talk is one of the best options when looking into a Straight Talk prepaid phone.

The StraightTalk LG 900G also is compatible for ringtones downloading. Being able to download your own ringtones and graphics is a great way to customize and personalize your own StraightTalk LG 900G. This phone is simply unbeatable not only because it’s a great phone in general with the features it includes and non sliding QWERTY keyboard, but also because the Straight Talk prepaid phone plans are some of the most high quality and inexpensive plans in the pre-paid phone service market.

There are several other options you might consider from this company in addition to this phone. Another very popular phone is the Samsung R355C. You can learn more about this phone and other ST phones at our best phones page (at least these are three of the phones we think are the best) or at the official website for the brand, StraightTalk.com

Update: New Straight Talk Android Out Now.  If you haven’t heard, Straight Talk has just released a third Android handset to its ranks.  It’s a nice little Android phone with a brilliant screen, a 5 mp camera/video recorder, and access to the Android app store.  Read more about it here or go straight to the horse’s mouth, StraightTalk.com

If you’re looking at prepaid phones and phone plans then you’ve no doubt come across two of the biggest players in the industry: Straight Talk and Metro PCS.  And if you’re thinking about buying soon then you’ve probably compared these two phone companies to each other and have thought about which one is best for you and your family.

So let’s have a look at Straight Talk vs Metro PCS phone plans.

Straight Talk: What it Offers

samsung t404g straight talk phoneStraight Talk has an unlimited plan that gives users unlimited talk time, unlimited text messages, unlimited emails, unlimited web browsing, unlimited 411, and GPS.  This all costs you $45 per month, plus the initial money you pay for the phone you buy from Straight Talk (although currently the LG 220 Straight Talk phone is being offered for free with one month of service paid–it’s a good deal).

The second Straight Talk plan is dubbed the “All You Need” phone plan and costs only $30 per month.  It provides customers with 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages.  If you don’t think you want unlimited talk, web, and text, this is a good option.  But if you want to use one of the new Straight Talk Android phones, you’re going to need to use the unlimited plan since they only work on that plan.

Metro PCS Family Plan: The Details

The Metro PCS family plan starts at $40 for unlimited talk, text, and web browsing for one line.  Now here’s where people can save money with the MetroPCS family plan.  For every line you add to the first line, you save $5 on the monthly payment.  So if you were to go with the bottom rung unlimited family plan option, you would pay $35 per line up to five lines.  So this way, you can save up to $25 per month on your plan.

The Bottom Line: Metro PCS vs Straight Talk

Now comparing the Metro PCS Unlimited plan to the Straight Talk plan, you can see that Straight Talk would cost you about $10 more per month per user.  But you have to also take into consideration the quality of service you receive where you are.  You may be in an area where Straight Talk, taking advantage of Verizon’s strong network, gets really clear reception.  This is definitely something to consider.  Maybe you’re Metro PCS signal is stronger and it’s a prevalent carrier in your region.  Think about these things.  Also, maybe some members of your family rarely use their phones.  Do they really need an unlimited plan?  Maybe a plan with fewer minutes from TracFone or Net10 is a better option.

You need to figure exactly what you need (or at least close to it) and go from there.  The more information you have about the different phone plans out there, the better off you will be.  Good luck.

Other Unlimited Prepaid Plans

Read also about Net10′s Unlimited plan.  It’s another good one to compare and contrast with the unlimited plans from Metro PCS and Straight Talk.  You want to get the best deal, so have a look at all the available similar plans and go get the best phone and plan that works for you.  Get more details on Net 10 Unlimited at Net10.com (the plan costs $50 per month)

Knowing what all of the unlimited plans provide you is the best way to know you’re finding the best deal.  The MetroPCS plan may be the right choice for some, while the Straight Talk plan may be the better option for others.  Other brands like Cricket (which you can find in Cricket stores and at BestBuy) and Boost Mobile have rival “low budget” unlimited plans that compete, but I think that Straight Talk has a leg up.  Still, do your due diligence and find the best deal for you.

If you’re shopping for Net10 or Straight Talk phones, visit their sites directly because you can find the best deals right there.  Often, they have free phone deals, or other special things going on that you can only get at the official website.  You can also find a lot of very good deals on phones at Amazon’s Prepaid Phone Section.

LG 420G Straight Talk Phone Deal

On March 19, 2011, in samsung finesse, by Chris

The LG 420G Straight Talk deal costs $55 for the phone handset and the Unlimited Straight Talk plan.  It’s a good deal on a good prepaid phone.  The LG 420 comes with a VGA camera, mobile web service, Bluetooth wireless, and free 411 calls in addition to unlimited talk, text, and web on Straight Talk’s unlimited plan.  If you’re looking for a good deal on a prepaid plan, then have a look at this current deal as well as the other deals online at StraightTalk.com.  Read a review of the Straight Talk Samsung t401g.

Straight Talk LG 620G

On March 11, 2011, in straight talk, by Chris

The LG 620G is a popular Straight Talk phone that has a 1.3 megapixel camera.  Sure, it’s not the most amazing camera in the world and won’t win you any awards, but it does also have a video recording function, which is really cool and something I almost consider mandatory on my cell phones.  There are several Straight Talk phones that have video cameras though, so you should have a look at the rest of the lineup to see what it available.  LG 620G is a slider phone with a nice design.  It’s an easy to use phone and goes great with the unlimited plan.  You also get mobile web browsing and Bluetooth wireless technology, two other things that I’ve started to get accustomed to on my cell phones–and I know I’m not the only one.

Samsung T255G Straight Talk Phone Deal

On March 9, 2011, in straight talk, by Chris

It may not be the best Straight Talk phone, but the Samsung T255G is available with either the $30 All You Need Straight Talk plan or the Unlimited plan available at StraightTalk.com.  It’s your choice which package you purchase.  If you need a lot of talk time and texting (and you even like to get online from your phone) then the Unlimited plan might be the one you want.  But both are good.  The Samsung T255G is a standard flip phone with a camera, mobile web service, and picture messaging.  It will get the job done for you on either of these Straight Talk plans.  It has a small screen like most standard flip style phones so you’re web experience isn’t going to be exceptional like with an iPhone or Android phone, but you will still be able to do web searches and find the information you’re looking for on the go.  There are four other Samsung Straight Talk phones that you might be interested in as well.  They are the Samsung T404G, T401G, Samsung R335C, and Samsung R451C. See all the phones at StraightTalk.com

The Samsung R355c phone is available in a bundle with the Straight Talk Unlimited plan, which is quite an interesting prepaid plan.  Giving you unlimited talk time, browsing, email, 411, and voice-guide GPS, this plan is all-intensive.  For about $85, you get this phone and the first month of unlimited service.  The phone has a basic camera (1.3 megapixels), picture messaging (for sending the pictures you take to friends and family), and the phone has Bluetooth wireless functionality, which is always a good thing.  Find more details online at StraightTalk.com, the best place to buy Straight Talk phones.
