Straight Talk's New Android Phone is Out Now - Click Here!

straight talk nokia e5 profile pictureThe Samsung Finesse for Straight Talk is a smartphone that works on Straight Talk’s prepaid cell phone plans. There are not many prepaid smartphones out there, which makes the Samsung Finesse r810c a bit of an anomaly.

Straight Talk is currently giving away free phones on its website for a new promotion. The way it works is you pay for your first month of talk time and you get a free phone. The deal is available online only at StraightTalk.com.

There are two phone currently to choose from. I don’t know how long this deal is going to be around, so if you’re interested have a look at the link above. You can pick up a phone for yourself and one for a friend. It’s always nice to save some money on your phone bill, but in this instance you can even save money on your actual phone, which is even nicer. Have a look at the phones and see if you want to snatch one up while this deal is still going on.

Straight Talk recently released this phone for use on its two prepaid plans, which is a good thing because it is by far the best phone that works with this wireless provider. It is also a sign of things to come. I think we will start to see a lot more prepaid smartphones in the near future.

If you are looking to buy the Samsung Finesse, you want to visit the official Straight Talk website to see if it’s available in your area. To do this, go to the site then select the button in the navigation that says “Store.” A drop down menu will appear, and at that point you want to click “Phones”.

You will be guided to a screen that asks for your zip code so you can check availability of the phone where you live. Unfortunately, some of the phones aren’t available in certain locales.

There are two plans available for use on Straight Talk with the Samsung Finesse r810c. One is the $30 All You Need 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text plan, which is quite reasonably priced.

The second is the Unlimited Plan, which at $45, allows you to use unlimited talk time, unlimited text, unlimited web browsing, and unlimited 411 calling.

Both plans also run on the Verizon network, which means you get a solid network as well, fewer dropped calls, and better nationwide service than most prepaid providers.

At a price of just around $300, Straight Talk’s Samsung Finesse r810c might be a little out of reach for many people.

Frankly, a lot of people decide to purchase prepaid phones as a means to save a lot of money–not to plunk down a few hundred on a higher end phone. But for Straight Talk, the Finesse is somewhat of a cross-over phone in that it may appeal to some people who desire more functionality out of their cell phones.

At the time I am updating this, there are more smartphones available on prepaid plans than there were when I originally wrote this article. MetroPCS, you might be interested to know, seems to be phasing out the Finesse on its service.

It is no longer featured on the MetroPCS website. It will be interesting to see what new phones Straight Talk unveils. There should be another high end option coming soon. Check back here for details in the future.

The Samsung Finesse is the best phone that Straight Talk Wireless has to offer its prepaid customers. This is significant because the Finesse is one of the few decent prepaid smart phones available.

In general, most prepaid phones are very simple and don’t have a lot to offer the end user.  This is obviously not true in all cases, but usually prepaid cell phones are very low end.  This is why it’s a good thing that Straight Talk picked up the Samsung Finesse.  It gives users a higher-end phone option to use with the affordable prepaid plans the company offers.

Straight Talk has two very simple plans for people to choose from. The first is the $30 per month option, which goes by the name of the “All You Need” plan.  For the monthly rate, you get 1,000 minutes of talk time and 1,000 text messages.  Clearly, for a lot of people this is enough talk time for one month.

Since the Straight Talk Samsung Finesse has a full html browser, a large color screen, and a virtual QWERTY keyboard, web browsing is very simple.
The $30 plan from Straight Talk comes with 30 mb of data transfer for web browsing, which may be enough for many phone users.  But some people may spend even more time browsing the web.

For these people (and for the super-connected people who need to constantly talk and text friends), the Unlimited Straight Talk plan may do the trick.  At $45 per month for unlimited talk time, unlimited text, and unlimited web browsing, this is a comprehensive plan for people who spend a lot of time on their phones. Samsung Finesse r810c phone for Straight TalkSamsung Finesse r810c has a nice, clear touch screen, which makes sense since it’s a smartphone. Some people express disappointment at the lack of apps and games like you might find on an iPhone or Droid phone.  It is one area where the Finesse may have a weakness.  Still, many people are satisfied with this phone and many love it.  Other Finesse users say that they have no problem browsing the web, watching youtube videos, and texting and calling with ease.

This Finesse has a 2-megapixel camera with an auto-focus function, which will enable you to take pictures on the go. The handwriting on the screen function is interesting too.  The way this works is you write on the screen with your finger, the phone converts it to typed text, and then you can send a text message that way.

Battery life for the Finesse is good with the handset lasting up to 48 hours with no charge.
This is pretty good considering the web browsing function, large 3.2-inch color screen, and of course, talk and text functions take up a lot of power.  This phone model also charges very quickly and should be ready to go after an hour in the wall (if you start the charge from a near dead battery).
