Update:  Tracfone is one of the most well known and successful prepaid companies in the country, so when they unveiled a new brand called Straight Talk that would be sold at Walmart and online, I knew this was going to be an interesting endeavor.  Straight Talk, unlike Tracfone, has Android prepaid phones–three of them to be exact.  The latest one that was released not too long ago is called LG Optimus Black, from the very popular Optimus family of phones that you see on a lot of prepaid plans.

Optimus Black is the best phone you can get from Straight Talk Wireless right now.  It has a 5 megapixel camera that also records high quality video.  It also has a secondary small camera that is useful for video chatting.  Read more about the newest prepaid Android phone at StraightTalk.com

No Contract Prepaid Phones

Straight Talk is a prepaid cell phone provider, which means that you never have to sign a contract in order to use the service.  There are quite a few nice phones to choose from and since you pay every month as you use the service, you don’t have to subject yourself to any kind of commitment like you would with a contract phone plan.  Prepaid is really becoming popular as the months go by, since signing a contract for a phone can be quite expensive and essentially locks you to a certain company.  Straight Talk has two good prepaid plans for you to choose from.  One is a 1,000 minute per month plan and the other is the unlimited plan.  Right now there is a special offer for a free prepaid phone with your purchase of one month of service.straight talk prepaid phones

Straight Talk Deals Running Right Now

There is a free phone offer going on right now.  The Nokia E71 is only $49 brand new and the Nokia E5 smart phone is only $149.  Samsung Precedent, the first Android phone for Straight Talk is selling for $129.99 and the LG Optimus Black Android (the third ST android device) is now on sale at the official site.  Get your prepaid phone deal at StraightTalk.com

Page Plus New Prepaid Phone Plan

On March 2, 2012, in prepaid phone, by Chris

page plus cell phonesPage Plus Cellular recently unveiled its Unlimited Talk n Text plan, which is an unlimited prepaid cell phone plan that retails for $39.95. Of course, you still have to purchase a phone that works with the service, so remember that is an extra cost.

Page Plus Cellular released this unlimited plan during a time where the prepaid marketplace has quite a few very good offers for cell phone users. In other words, if you’re looking for a prepaid phone (or any phone for that matter, as you may definitely want to consider pay as you go plans as viable options) then now is the time to be in the market.

It’s a buyer’s market out there, which is good because the more competition there is, the better the plan you will get and the less you will pay.

Page Plus Cellular’s Talk n Text plan faces stiff competition from prepaid wireless companies like Tracfone, which recently released two attractive prepaid plans under the “Straight Talk” brand, and Boost Mobile, which released the Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited Plan early this year.

At a price point of $50, the Boost Mobile offering was seen as traveling into uncharted waters. Prices immediately started getting lowered by other prepaid companies so they could compete. At the same time, these companies are offering more services for less dollars.

Case in point: MetroPCS lowered by $5 its unlimited prepaid plans while Leap Wireless, which operates in the prepaid market as Cricket, added new services to its existing plans. There are definitely some very good prepaid plan deals out there.

You always want to check the service maps in your local area before you make a decision on any phone.

Page Plus Cellular’s new Talk ‘n Text plan is definitely a step in the right direction and it’s a good move to be making at this point in time for the company.

If you’re looking for a new prepaid phone plan, never rule out a company just because you haven’t heard of them. Check out the Page Plus coverage map to make sure that coverage in your areas of residence and work is very solid.

A few of the phones you can use with Page Plus Cellular’s service plans are:

LG VX3300 (refurbished)

LG VX4500(basic flip phone with outside screen, costs about $30)

LG VX610 ($39.95)

Motorola E815

LG VX5200

LG VX8300 (about $60)

Don’t Give a Prepaid Phone As a Gift If…

On February 22, 2012, in prepaid phone, by Chris

The following are some circumstances in which giving a prepaid cell phone as a gift to someone may be a bad idea.  Some people just need to have a contract plan, while others seem to need the low restrictions of a prepaid plan.  Read on and learn when you should not give a loved one a prepaid phone.  Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Samsung Galaxy PrecedentIf the person really likes his or her smartphone, you might want to avoid the switch to prepaid. Prepaid handsets tend to be a little more, how do I say this, “basic.” This is not a bad thing, since the real purpose of a prepaid plan is to get a good deal, right? It’s about saving money, not spending it on a ridiculously priced, highly functional smartphone.

You don’t know the person very well. If the person you are getting the gift for is not very close, it can be hard to give the gift of a prepaid phone since he or she may not trust your taste in the wireless service selection. When you give someone a phone or the first month’s service as a gift, you should have a very good idea that he or she will be interested in continuing with the service. For this reason, you should limit giving prepaid cell phone plans to close friends and family.

In many other cases, giving somone this kind of phone can be a great idea because it will save them money and is a very thoughtful and useful gift. Let me get personal for a second here: if someone was to ask me what to get me for a holiday gift, I might just tell them to get me a prepaid phone. That would be a great gift that I could immediately start using.
