It’s a super nice phone.  If the Optimus Black isn’t suited to your taste, you should have a look at the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, which was released earlier this month.  It’s another solid release that is surprisingly fast.  It downloads data fast, opens web pages really quick, and streams netflix and youtube videos really fast.  It’s because this phone is on the Verizon network–the first Straight Talk Android phone to be on this superior network.

The question we’re going to try to tackle here is whether or not you should consider buying one of the two new Straight Talk smart phones, the Nokia 6790 and the Nokia E71. A few people have asked recently if there are Straight Talk touch screen phones available with the two ST plans that a lot of people are talking about right now.  At the moment, there are no Straight Talk touch screen phones available.  Previously, the Samsung Finesse r810c, which does have a touch screen, was in the lineup and could be purchased on the website.  But that phone was phased out even though it’s a fan favorite because the model was getting quite old.  Pretty soon, we saw the Nokia E71 and Nokia 6790 phones come into play and they were selling pretty well for a few months.  Now, however, those two smart phones are no longer being sold on the website.  So at the moment–to answer those few readers question–no, there are no Straight Talk touch screen phones available.  This could, and hopefully will, change. Optimus Black works only with the Unlimited plan from Net10, which makes sense anyways because it’s an Android device, so you’re going to want to do a lot with your phone.  I would say that people who would like this phone are people who don’t want a contract, but want an Android phone that gives them cool functions they can use for communication and entertainment during their day.  Let’s be honest, Android phones are fun; normal prepaid boring flip phones are not.

And now that we have seen the release of the first Straight Talk Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Preceden (pictured above), it seems that this company has really come out swinging and is ready to play ball. The Android phone on prepaid plan phenomenon is one that makes me personally really happy, since I have been wanting to see better phones on prepaid plans for a long time now. And Straight Talk has in fact released its second Android phone right on the heels of the first one. The second phone is the LG Optimus Q, a phone that is different from the Precedent mainly because it has a pull out keypad in addition to a beautiful touch screen. One thing you need to know about both of these cool phones is that they only work with the unlimited prepaid plan from this company. You can’t opt into any lower plan, you have to use the $45 per month plan. But this plan is probably the one you want if you’re going to have an Android device that browses the web and downloads apps.
